Reading the Sand Street sensor…
The web page shows today. The app does the deciding.
Sand Street is the most useful car park in town for a short visit and the numbers back it up: across the whole record it has spent only about 6 hours completely full, and on a typical weekday it still has around 95 spaces at its tightest moment. It is also right in the middle of town.
The catch is the tariff. Sand Street runs its own escalating scale designed to discourage all-day parking: the first three hours cost £1.10 each, but the fourth adds £2.20, the fifth £3.30, and by nine hours you are looking at £33. For an hour or three it is excellent value and nearly always available. For a full working day, use a long stay car park instead.
Based on 69,557 recorded arrivals at Sand Street between 16 January and 22 July 2026. Days when the counter was faulty are excluded.
